“Earlier today, Modi engaged in bilateral discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni during the G7 Outreach Summit in Italy, held at the luxurious Borgo Egnazia resort in the Apulia region from June 13 to 15. India, as an Outreach country, has been invited to participate alongside the G7 nations: the US, the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Canada, and Japan. This marks Prime Minister Modi’s first international trip of his third consecutive term in office.

Arriving late Thursday night in Italy’s Apulia, PM Modi commenced his engagement by holding bilateral discussions with French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, covering a spectrum of topics. He also met with Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, affirming India’s commitment to supporting a peaceful resolution to the Ukraine conflict through dialogue and diplomacy.

Additionally, Prime Minister Modi had an audience with Pope Francis. In his departure statement, he expressed satisfaction that his inaugural state visit of his third term coincided with the G7 Summit in Italy, reflecting on the significant bilateral exchanges between India and Italy, including Prime Minister Meloni’s visits to India last year. PM Modi emphasized the shared commitment to strengthen the India-Italy strategic partnership and enhance cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and Mediterranean regions.
