Our current understanding of the case
According to Inspector Paresh Naik of the Calangute police station, Suchana Seth arrived at a leased service flat in Candolim, North Goa, on January 6, accompanied by her son.
Upon a brief visit, Seth informed the flat staff of her intention to travel to Bengaluru for professional purposes and requested their assistance in arranging a taxi, as relayed by Naik.
The staff recommended that she consider taking a flight to Bengaluru as a more cost-effective alternative to hiring a taxi, which is a costly prospect, according to the police officer.
The woman adamantly expressed her preference for travelling exclusively by taxi, and a vehicle was promptly arranged on January 8th. She departed for Bengaluru in the early morning.
Subsequently, when the personnel responsible for maintaining the flat inspected the room she occupied, they discovered traces of blood on a towel, as reported by him. The flat management promptly notified the Calangute Police.
According to the staff, Seth’s four-year-old son was not observed with her when she departed the flat. Additionally, she was observed carrying a bag of exceptional weight.
Subsequently, the authorities contacted her and inquired about the presence of blood stains as well as the whereabouts of her allegedly absent son.
The woman explained that the presence of blood stains was a result of her menstrual cycle. She stated that her kid was accompanied by her acquaintance in the town of Margao, located in South Goa, and she provided the address.
Naik stated that the police promptly sought assistance from Fatorda Police (located near Margao) and discovered that the address provided by her was fraudulent.
The inspector thereafter engaged in a telephone conversation with the cab driver, who was in route to Bengaluru and had arrived in Chitradurga district in Karnataka, in order to transport the suspect to the closest police station.
According to Naik, the police in Chitradurga inspected the woman’s suitcase and discovered the deceased body of the infant.
A squad from the Calangute Police promptly travelled to Chitradurga and secured legal permission to transport the suspect, who was en route to Goa.
