After his outstanding performance in the Asia Cup final against Sri Lanka on Sunday, Mohammed Siraj reclaimed his position as the best one-day international bowler in the world. Siraj had previously occupied the top spot on the leaderboard, having done so during the months of January and March 2023 before being dethroned by Josh Hazlewood. Currently, Siraj is on his second stint in this position.
As a result of his performance in the Asia Cup, in which he took ten wickets while averaging 12.20 runs per wicket, Siraj advanced eight spots to the top of the rankings. The highlight of that performance was the spell of 6 for 21 that reduced Sri Lanka to 50 all out in the final. This demolished Sri Lanka’s chances of winning the match. This stint, which Siraj described as “like a dream,” contained a four-wicket over, which is a feat that has only been accomplished three other times in the history of men’s ODIs.
Mujeeb Ur Rahman (ranked No. 4) and Rashid Khan (ranked No. 5) are both Afghanistan spinners who made their way into the top five thanks to their performances at the Asia Cup. During the group stage, they shared two wickets between them. The top five are rounded out by Trent Boult in third place and Hazlewood in second place.

As a direct result of his performance, he has moved up twenty places to No. 9 on the ICC rankings for ODI batters. It was a record-breaking performance in the sense that no hitter has ever scored as many runs in an ODI innings with the strike rate of 204 like Klaasen did during this innings prior.
After scoring the most runs (277), Dawid Malan moved up to a career-high 13th position in One-Day Internationals (ODIs) in England after the home ODI series against New Zealand. He has a strike rate of 105.72 and an average of 92.33, making him the batter with the highest ranking for England at this time. Following his scorching 182 at the Oval, Ben Stokes moved up to the 36th position in the rankings. After the most recent update, Babar Azam, Shubman Gill, and Rassie Van der Dussen continue to hold the top three rankings.
