The holiday of Ganesh Chaturthi, considered to be one of the most important celebrations connected with Lord Krishna, is just around the horizon. Ganesh Utsav is a festival that honours the birth of Ganesh, often known as the “Elephant God,” and lasts for ten days. Devotees of Ganesh all throughout the country participate in the festivities. The states of Maharashtra, Telangana, and Karnataka, as well as the cities of Mumbai, Pune, and Hyderabad, are particularly well-known for their extravagant celebrations of this holiday. During the Ganesh Utsav, which lasts for ten days, Lord Ganesha is worshipped. At the end of the event, people will also transport an idol of Lord Ganesha back to their home, where they will then ceremoniously submerge the statue in a body of water. Lord Ganesha is also known as Vighnaharta, and he is renowned for his ability to eliminate all kinds of difficulties.

DOs

There are a lot of people who are devoted to Ganesha who enjoy creating their own idols out of a lot of love and dedication. When creating an idol of Lord Ganesha, one must, however, keep certain things in mind at all times. The’mukut’, often known as a crown, is an essential component of a Lord Ganesha idol. Therefore, it is essential that a majestic’mukut’ be added to the idol in order to bring about success and wealth.

Whether you construct your own Ganesha idol or buy one from the market, the Lord Ganesha statue you choose should be positioned in a seated position at all times. You should also make sure that the Ganesha statue includes his friend the mouse as well as a few’modaks’ as this will bring great energy into the home.

When you are welcoming Bappa back to his home, cover your Ganesha idol with a scarlet ‘chunari’ or cloth.

When performing the ritual known as’sthapana’ on an idol of Lord Ganesha, the most fortunate directions to face are to the east, west, or north-east.

The arrival of Ganpati Bappa should be heralded with the ringing of bells and the sound of the shankh, along with an abundance of joyous energy.

After worshipping the idol of Lord Ganesha for one and a half, three, five, seven, or eleven days, visarjan should be performed.

DON’Ts

The trunk of Lord Ganesha should never point to the right since doing so would either depict his obstinate attitude or foretell challenging times. Always keep the trunk facing to the left, as this position is associated with prosperity and good fortune.

The idol of Lord Ganesha should never be left alone, and the deity should always be accompanied by at least one person.

Never, ever submerge an idol of Lord Ganesha in water without first performing the appropriate aarti and puja.

After performing Ganesh stapana, you should avoid eating onion, garlic, and any other meals that have tamsic elements. Prepare only satvic dishes, and make your first offering of these to Lord Ganesha.
