Elon Musk discusses the budget differences between ‘Interstellar’ and ‘Chandrayaan-3’

Elon Musk gave a response to a post that read: "Kind of crazy when you realise India's budget for Chandrayaan-3 ($75 Million) is less than the budget for the film Interstellar ($165 Million)."

In 2020, the cost of India’s Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission was estimated to be Rs 615 crore, which is equivalent to $75 million. This figure is less than half of the budget for the film Interstellar, which had a total cost of $165 million to complete. Although it may be hard to believe, the facts don’t lie: the cost of making a film about space is greater than that of an actual space trip.

This unexpected piece of information is currently going popular on X (previously Twitter), where it has even attracted the interest of Elon Musk.

An article published by Newsthink on X has the following statement: “Kind of crazy when you realise India’s budget for Chandrayaan-3 [$75 million] is less than the film Interstellar [$165 million].”

Musk provided a response to the post, in which he praised India. The billionaire tweeted, “Good for India,” and appended the message with an emoji of the Indian tricolour flag.

The Chandrayaan-3 lander had its initial launch on July 14, and it is anticipated that it will settle on the opposite side of the moon on August 23.

ISRO said on Wednesday that it is getting ready to commence the Automatic Landing Sequence (ALS) for its ambitious third Moon mission, Chandrayaan-3’s Lander Module (LM), which is scheduled to come down on the lunar surface this evening.

The Lunar Module (LM), which will consist of the lander Vikram and the rover Pragyan, is expected to make a touch down near the south pole zone of the Moon at 6:04 p.m. on Wednesday. This will be a first for any country in the world, as no other nation has accomplished this task.

In the year 2020, ISRO Chairman K. Sivan disclosed to media that the cost of the Chandrayaan-3 mission was Rs 615 crore. Out of this total, the cost of the rover and the propulsion module was 250 crores, while the cost of the launch service was 365 crores.

When compared, the total cost of the Chandrayaan-2 mission was Rs 978 crore.
