The representative for Sunak reaffirmed that Britain had contacted Canada about the “serious allegations,” but that this would not affect trade talks with India.
A representative for British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said on Tuesday that trade discussions will continue with India despite accusations from Ottawa that the Indian government was complicit in the assassination of a Sikh separatist leader in Canada.
According to the spokeswoman, trade discussions with India would not be affected by the “serious allegations” that Britain has been in contact with Canada about.

Trade talks will proceed in the same manner as before. I won’t try to get ahead of the Canadian authorities, so they can do their job, the spokeswoman told reporters.
When we have issues with the governments of the nations with which we are negotiating trade agreements, we will bring them up with those governments directly. To be clear, we are not trying to mix other issues with the trade conversations we are now having with India.
