All customers have seen a 200 price reduction for their domestic LPG petrol cylinder purchases.
During the meeting of the Union cabinet on Tuesday, the Central Government decided to lower the price of cooking gas by 200 per cylinder for all residential customers. A further subsidy for the Ujjwala programme has been given the green light by the cabinet. The additional subsidy comes to a total of 200 yen. Beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) will receive a subsidy of 400 per cylinder from today.
“PM Modi has decided a 200 decrease in the cost for domestic LPG cylinders, to benefit all users…this is a gift by PM Narendra Modi, to the women of the country, during the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and Onam,” said Union Minister Anurag Thakur. “This is a gift from PM Narendra Modi, to the women of the country, during the occasion of Raksha Bandhan and Onam.”
According to Thakur, in 2014, when our government first assumed power, a total of only 14.5 crore persons had home LPG connections. “Today, that number has increased to 33 crore, of which 9.6 crore have been distributed under the Ujjwala scheme,” he added. “The Ujjwala scheme has been responsible for distributing.”

During his address to the cabinet, Thakur also reminded those in attendance that the government has decided to provide free gas connections to a total of 75 lakh women as part of the Ujjwala programme in celebration of the festivals of Raksha Bandhan and Onam.
Thakur went on to say that as part of the effort, these ladies will not have to pay for the gas hob, their first cooking gas cylinder or their pipe.
