On June 13, Prime Minister Modi began his journey to Italy for the G7 Outreach Summit. This marks his first international trip since starting his third consecutive term in office.
In a statement before departing, Prime Minister Modi expressed his satisfaction that his initial official visit during this term is to Italy for the G7 Summit. He mentioned his past trip to Italy for the G20 Summit in 2021 and the visits of Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni to India, which significantly strengthened bilateral relations.
“I am pleased that my first visit in this term is to Italy for the G7 Summit. I fondly remember my trip to Italy for the G20 Summit last year. Prime Minister Meloni’s visits to India were crucial in advancing our bilateral agenda. We are committed to enhancing the strategic partnership between India and Italy and expanding cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and Mediterranean regions,” said PM Modi.
Prime Minister Modi was invited by the Italian Prime Minister to attend the G7 Outreach Summit. This will mark India’s 11th participation in the G7 Summit, with PM Modi attending for the fifth consecutive time. During the Summit, he is expected to have one-on-one meetings with other leaders in attendance.
Additionally, PM Modi is scheduled to have a bilateral meeting with his Italian counterpart during his visit.
