Udhayanidhi on his remark about ‘Sanatana’: “Will repeat the same thing again and again”

According to Udhayanidhi Stalin, Sanatana was an ideology that was in opposition to the concept of social justice and needed to be abolished.

According to Udhayanidhi Stalin, Sanatana was an ideology that was in opposition to the concept of social justice and needed to be abolished.
On Monday, the minister of Tamil Nadu, Udhayanidhi Stalin, maintained his defiance in the face of criticism for his controversial remark in which he called for the eradication of “Sanatana Dharma.” This remark is at the centre of a large political issue that has spread across the country.

“The day before yesterday, I was asked to give a talk about Sanatana Dharma at a gathering. Regardless of what I stated, I will reiterate the exact same thing over and over again…I included people of different faiths; Hindus were not the only ones…”I talked denouncing the caste disparities, that’s all,” the leader of the DMK was reported as saying in Thoothukudi, according to ANI.

Udhayanidhi Stalin, while speaking at a gathering that had been hosted by the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers Artists Association, had stated that Sanatana was in opposition to the concept of social justice and needed to be abolished.

“Only a few things cannot be argued against, and those should be eliminated entirely. We are powerless to stop mosquitoes, dengue fever, malaria, or corona. It is imperative that we destroy this, as this is the means by which we must eradicate santana. Instead of fighting Sanatana, he was quoted as stating that it should be eradicated.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a full-scale assault against the leader of the DMK, accusing him of calling for the genocide of Hindus. Udhayanidhi later refuted the allegations that the DMK leader had made such a call.
“Udhayanidhi Stalin, a minister in the DMK Government and the son of Tamilnadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, has linked Sanatana Dharma to malaria and dengue… He is of the belief that it should not only be opposed but rather that it should be abolished. According to the chairman of the IT cell for the BJP, Amit Malviya, who posted on X, “In short, he is calling for the genocide of 80% of the population of Bharat, who follow Sanatan Dharma.”
In response to this, Udhayanidhi stated, “I have never in my life called for the annihilation of people who adhere to Sanatan Dharma.” Sanatan Dharma is a notion that distinguishes individuals based on their caste and religious affiliation. Sanatan Dharma must be overthrown in order to preserve humanity and human equality. I fully support and stand by every thing that I have said.

Udhayanidhi Stalin has been criticised for his comment by the Saffron Party as well as by a number of religious authorities. The Congress, which is now in power in the state and is the DMK’s coalition partner, has stated that while it respects all religions, it believes that every political party should have the freedom to voice their opinions. It is inappropriate for us to say anything that could offend large or even relatively small groups of people.
Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of West Bengal, issued a warning to people not to make remarks that could hurt the sensibilities of other people. “Different feelings are associated with each religious tradition. The concept of “Unity in Diversity” is fundamental to India, our country of birth. According to statements that she made to the PTI news agency, “We should not be involved in any matter that might hurt a section of people.”
