On Sunday, the Uttar Pradesh Police Department made four inter-state drug smuggler arrests and seized 1.5 kilograms of heroin from one of the suspects. The suspects were taken into custody during a check at the Nahar puliya bypass, according to the Superintendent of the Ghazipur Police Department. They were travelling in a vehicle that had an Assam number plate displayed on it.
After getting information about the smugglers, the checks were being carried out by a combined squad consisting of members of the SWAT surveillance team and the police.
Three of the arrested individuals are from the state of Manipur, and the fourth is a history sheeter from the neighbouring state of Ghazipur.
Smugglers who were caught and arrested told the police that they smuggled heroin out of Manipur and took it to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar, where they intended to sell it at a higher price before redistributing it to other regions. They were accused of violating several provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, which resulted in a complaint being lodged against them at the Dildar Nagar Police Station.
